Day 33: Learning....
I have always been a city girl. If I needed something I would just go to the store and buy it. Now that I am a "country girl" going to the store for one or two things is out of the question. The cost of gas alone should deter me, but it is the time it takes that deters me the most. We live 10+ miles from anywhere...And really, the best shopping is more like 20 miles.Well, there is a BP close by, but I refuse to go in there. It smells of old grease and smoke, which of itself would not be so bad, but if you go into this particular store the smell stays with you for the rest of the day!! Yuck!
On this journey of learning to become more self sufficient, trying to make things last and also trying to make more homemade things, I have discovered a little miracle......LOTION BARS!!!!!!
I attended a class with my sista-in-law on Saturday....something about beeswax and body care--she signed me up! I did not know what I was going to be learning, but it sounded fun! We had a blast!! We made lip balm with 5 NATURAL ingredients and we made glycerin soap. Our teacher had made some lotion bars the night before to share with the class. I had never heard of a lotion bar before, but I am game if it includes natural ingredients and this particular person recommends it!
It was WoNdErFuL!!! Oh my word!! I cannot describe to you the feeling of softness after I use this thing!!! And my heels!?! I have very dry skin and my heels are always in a mess.....sorry for those of you that may be offended when wear my flip flops (well, not really! Ha!! I will wear them anyway!!)....this bar has singlehandedly changed the appearence of dry skin on my heels in one night!!!!!!!! =) =) =) Happiness!!!
So today, I am thankful for learning new things and being willing to try them!!! =)
