Getting to know me...

Have  you ever seen that movie, "The King and I"?? You know, the one with Yul Brynner!! Classic!
I adore this movie!!
Some of my very favorite show tunes come from this movie!! Brilliant, brilliant music!!
Like...."Hello, Young Lovers" <Here> and "Shall We Dance" <Here>, but one of my favorites is "Getting To Know You" <Here>!!!!   I hum/sing this song a lot!!

So the theme of this blog will be getting to know....Me!!!! (humming the tune in your head yet??) ;-)

I feel like with all the online traffic that is the internet that we lose touch with people that make up our world. Here's to hoping that this year we can spend more time getting to know people (each other) where you are  rather than looking at a computer screen.... =)    Although, I really appreciate that you have taken the time to look at my Blog (on the computer...the irony does not escape me...)!!!  =)  And I understand that we will probably never meet in person...

This was some kind of Facebook thing that was going around years ago....
So here goes.... Updates in the {}...

25 Random things ...(or something like that!)

1. It took me 15 minutes to figure out how to do this!!!!!
{Facebook Notes}
{Seriously. I am not at all computer literate. It takes me a considerable amount of time to figure out certain things. Facebook is a piece of cake these days, which means they are going to change it somehow, and soon!!!}

2. My nick-name as a kid was (prophetically?) "Mess"....

{My dad still calls me this. To this day. I am 38 years old. There are just some things (names!! I mean names!) that you don't outgrow!}
3. I love Taco Bell--I would eat there every day if I could (I almost did while I was pregnant with Thoene!!)
{Thoene is my 3rd (and last) child. I blame my pregnancy with him (and the cravings I gave in to!!) for my "exceptionally curvy" body. HA! While my tastes have changed somewhat over the last years, I can still go for a #7 with a (now) Diet Dr. Pepper once in a while!!!}

4. I have the munchies all day--every day
{I must say this has gotten exponentially better since I have cut sugar out of my diet....} =)

5. I LOVE to sing...most say I do it well.

6. I like to be pregnant, but my husband and I have chosen to sleep through the night for the rest of our lives so...no more babies for this girl!!
{I can honestly say I do not regret this decision at all!!!!}

7. I have no real ambition, except to raise my children to know the love of my Savior, Jesus Christ, and to walk in His truth.

8. I have the BEST husband in the world.
{Really!!} {While we have had some really hard times together and a rough patch or two, he is still the best!!! We are best friends and lovers!! We enjoy spending time together and are looking forward the the next 20 years (and more) together!!!}

9. I graduated high school when I was 16 years old.
{This is probably not a big deal to anyone anymore....it didn't really give me a head start on anything way back then (1993!!), just a feeling of "I am so young" during ALL of my high school years!!
In 9th grade all of my friends were getting driving permits --- I was 13 -- I still had 2  years to wait!!!}

10. I am going to hike the A.T. (Appalachian Trail--over 2000 miles) with my family one day.....
The Mountains are calling and I must go.~John Muir~.....I hear them John.
{Ok...so I may never really hike the whole thing (just parts), but I do want to live in the mountains when we retire so that may have to do for me!!!}

11. I never thought as a teenager that I would love being a full-time wife and mommy!!

12. Army Man has to clean ALL messes that include body fluids (anyone's body fluids) (even my own!!) ( I get body-fluid sick). Refer to # 8

13. I HAVE to make my bed every day or the rest of may day is a complete mess...somehow its related, although I haven't figured it out yet!!

14. I am a function (party, shower, fellowship) organizer--I do it with zeal....BUT my home is very disorganized. Go figure...

15. My first ever job was in retail (J.C.Penny, then Gayfers-now called Dillard's) and I loved it...would do it now if I had to go back to work.(I haven't worked outside the home since McCoy was born-2000)
{I now do some book keeping at home and I LOVE that as well!!! I love crunching numbers, balancing checkbooks, and filing paperwork!!!}

16. Window treatments are the LAST thing on my mind when we move into a new house.
{Obviously.... I still only have sheers in my windows. We have been in this house for more than 2 years!!}

17. Homeschooling my children is hard work for me...refer to #14.

18. I have no living grand-parents. Anyone have some to share??

19. My first-born has blue eyes...I have brown, Army Man has green.....hmmmm.....

20. My daddy has been a pastor for over 40 years (not all at the same church!)
{He is still a Pastor, but is getting closer to retirement for health reasons}

21. Its a real stretch for me to come up with 25 things...it's taxing my brain!!!

21. I LOVE cold cereal---dry!!! Golden Grahams are the BEST, but I can eat just about anything that is lightly sweetened!!!
{There is nothing more satisfying to me than a cup (drinking cup, not measuring cup!) of dry cereal before bed.}

22. I believe in training a child for immediate obedience...it saves A LOT of time, frustration and heartache later.

23. I taught myself how to crochet and I love to do it....now that I know how!!

24. I am not a morning person.

25. I love bed time....my bed is calling.....

So, now you know a little bit more about me..... Hope that doesn't scare you away!!! ;-)
Check out some of my other blogs to find out more about our crazy life out here in the country!!
