Survival!!

Today I am thankful that my chickies survived their first night with us!!! Now to get through three more weeks of nights to be out of "danger" and I will sleep better and breathe easier...I think. Then it will be concern for the wild animals that may come for a visit when I least expect it, or my wonderful Bella (border collie) that thinks that "if it runs, I must chase it"!!!
I'm pretty sure my gray hair is going to have more company before all this is settled!!

Blessings!!!

Chicks!!!!

The chicks are coming!! The chicks are coming!!!!

I don't know if you have picked up on this, but we are city folks becoming country folks. We have in the last year or so bought 6.5 acres of land,
built a house on this land,
are preparing to fence the entire property so we can get goats and cows one day, heirloom gardening, planting fruit trees, building a chicken coop,
and getting chickens.

Now, I know that it doesn't seem like much, but to me, it is incredible.
Not only am I a city girl, but I am also NOT a farm girl in any way!!! I have never lived on a farm. I have never been around farm animals. I do not like smelly things. I do not like getting dirty (except for gardening).  That being said, CHICKS ARE COMING ON WEDNESDAY!!!!! Do not panic. Do Not Panic. DO NOT PANIC!!!!! I keep telling myself this, but I am not listening!!!
I am completely overwhelmed with the thought that these 6 little (tiny) animals will be dependent on me for the rest of their natural lives.{This did not bother me when it came to children for some reason. I guess because one day kids grow up and can state their needs...}
And goats, oh my word, don't get me started!!! While I love the thought of having goats, I am not loving the thought of having goats!! I am conflicted about something that hasn't even happened yet!!!

I really need to step back, take a deep breath, and look at what God has done for my family. The list is long....Take one day at a time and hope that all 6 chicks make it through their first few weeks with us!!!

Blessings!!
